Craft a Pillow Box!

1. Start with a piece of cardstock with (1) a length of 3 times the width of the box you want to make and (2) a width equal to the length of the box you want to make plus twice the thickness of the box you want to make. (For instance if the finished box is to be 8" long x 5" wide x 2" thick -- the cardstock should be 15 inches long [3 x 5"] and 12 inches wide [8 + (2 x 2)].)

2. Draw a light erasable pencil line parallel to 2" from each long edge -- shown by lines #3 in the drawing below.

3. Score a straight line at 5" and 10" from one short edge -- shown by line #2 below.

4. Score lines #4 and #5 as shown below (six scores in total) -- picking the radius of the CURVED BOXMAKER scoring slot that just fits the cardstock blank as shown in the top drawing.

5. Cut away the excess material, leaving you with a blank as shown in the bottom drawing.

6. Fold the 3 panels together -- gluing the outside of the right panel to the inside of the left panel. The right panel can be trimmed, leaving just enough material for a sturdy seam.

7. Gently fold in the end panels on both ends and you have a finished box.

Note: drawings are not to scale.

This pretty little gift box was made with the Regular and Curved Box Maker.

The bottom of the box was covered with a Victorian design wrapping paper and the top was gold posterboard. I applied Chartpak Rub On Transfers Roses and Butterflies on the gold top.
